Trafford Trails was established to raise the profile of Manchester’s beautiful trails, there’s 100’s of them and most of them are completely unknown to the majority of runners.
As we have had to postpone our 4th Trafford Trails 5 Mile race we decided to do something a bit different, a free to enter, socially distanced, trail loving, point scoring league. There will be prizes, kudos, sweat and smiles.
All you have to do is find a trail, go for a run, send us your result and watch the points add up.

Unfortunately due to CV-19 it will not be possible to host the event in June as we had planned, instead we are going to postpone the race in the hope that we will be able to find another date later in the year.
Due to sunset getting much earlier from early September the latest we could host an evening event would be towards the end of August. At the moment we think that is unlikely so we are instead hoping for a winter weekend event. We will keep you posted if anything changes. For now, entries are closed until we have a new date.
We’re back for a 4th year! Save the date, Thursday 25th June 2020.
This years event will take place on Thursday July 18th 2019.
We offer our sincere appologies for keeping you waiting for so long, usually we announce our event on 1st of Jan but due to a very busy start to 2019 we were unsure whether we would be able to pull together and make this years events happen.
In the end we caved in to popular demand, you want it so we are going to give it to you!

This year we saw 194 runners take to the trails of which 137 were first timers and 57 were here for their second outing. Of the 57 2nd timers, 14 achieved a new PB, an amazing achievement given that the heat caused the average time for returning runners to be around 3 minutes slower than their previous attempt. The male / female ratio was exactly 50 / 50 an improvement on the slightly more male dominated race of last year. From an age group perspective, we had a pretty even spread with the Female 40-44 category being by far the most heavily populated.
The winners Harriers dominated again, with Rob Jowett beating last years time of 29:37 by one second and setting a new course record of 29:26. Katherine Wood was new to the race this year and set a new female course record of 32:52. Well done both! We hope you enjoy your prizes, a 1 hour treatment courtesy of Blake’s Sports, Nutrition and Massage.
We are glad to announce that entry into the 2018 Trafford Trails 5 miler is now open and we have added an extra 50 places. To start us off we have entered last years winners for free, congratulations Rob Jowett and Sara Douglas.
Now that we have tallied up all the pennies we are incredibly proud to accounce that we have raised just over £900 for our charitable causes.
That is £300 for the 42nd Street, £300 for Wood St Mission and £300 for Metroviks Rugby Club.
Immediately after the 2017 race feedback came flooding in via email, facebook and twitter. Well done to both the race team and the participants! The event was definitely a great success.
Here is what everyone said:
What a great race! It was fab to see everyone putting in that little bit extra over the last 20 meters!
Congratulations to our winners: Rob Jowett of Sale Harriers who had almost a two minute lead over our very own grass cutter and Chorlton Runner Oliver Bernstein in second place.
Sarah Douglas finished in first for the ladies, also of the Harriers and also with a two minute lead over fellow Harrier Helen Armitage.
